Redesigned High School Diploma
We are excited to share important updates about the new Indiana high school diploma, designed to better prepare students for success in both their academic and career pursuits. The new diploma requirements become mandatory beginning with the class of 2029; however, students in classes graduating before that may also opt in for this diploma if they meet certain requirements.
The new diploma offers students a more flexible and personalized learning experience, with an emphasis on real-world skills and opportunities. Requirements include:
- Credits: Students will earn 42 credits in math, ELA, Science, Social Studies, Colleges & Careers, PE, Health, and a variety of electives that are aligned with student post-secondary and career goals.
- Seals: In addition to the Indiana Diploma, students can earn Honors and Honors Plus Seals in Enrollment, Employment, and Enlistment.
- Career Pathways: Students will explore various career-focused tracks, allowing them to gain hands-on experience in fields like healthcare, technology, and education.
- Expanded Learning Opportunities: There will be options for dual-credit and AP courses, internships, and apprenticeships, helping students earn college credits and work experience while still in high school.
- Workforce Certifications: Students will have the chance to earn valuable certifications in areas such as construction, manufacturing, healthcare, and other high-demand fields, giving them a head start in the workforce.
- Flexibility for Personalized Learning: The diploma structure allows for customization based on each student's strengths, interests, and goals, ensuring a tailored approach to education.
