Bearcat Families,

We are excited to start the 2021-2022 school year this week with our first student day on Tuesday August 10th.  Important information regarding this school year is listed below.  If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact the main office at 765-747-5260 between 7:30am and 4:00pm during the week.

Start Time

Door #1 at MCHS will open each day at 7:40am.  This will be the only entrance available to students when they arrive on campus.  Breakfast will be served starting at 7:40am in the cafeteria.  1st block starts at 8:05am every day.

Purple / White Calendar

This year MCHS will operate on a Block 8 schedule meaning students will have 8 total classes per semester with only 4 classes meeting each day.  Tuesday August 10th is a Purple Day and Wednesday August 11th is a White Day.  The Purple / White calendar rotates every other day for the entire school year.

Advisory Period

This year MCHS will have an Advisory / SRT period each day.  This will serve as a homeroom and the goal is for students to have the same Advisory teacher for their entire HS career.  The Advisory period is listed as 5th period on each student’s schedule, however it will meet after 1st Block each day from 9:35am to 10:05am.

Students will eat lunch every day during 3rd Block.  MCHS will continue to have 3 lunches per day.  Students will know what lunch they are assigned to eat by looking on their schedule at the letter in round brackets or parentheses next to their room number for 3rd Block each day.  It will be listed as (A), (B), or (C).  Lunch times for each lunch are listed below under bell schedule.

Bell Schedule

There is a link on the MCHS website for the bell schedules.  It will list the regular schedule, 2-HR delay schedule, and Early Release schedule.  The MCHS website is

Student Schedules

Students can access their schedules via the student portal on PowerSchool.  All students will pick up a hard copy of their schedule when they arrive on Tuesday August 10th in the student center or auditorium.  Student schedules are always subject to change so we encourage students to check their portal frequently prior to Tuesday morning.

Just like last year, students will not be issued lockers at MCHS.  Students are permitted to wear backpacks throughout the school day.  Students will be able to leave large jackets, umbrellas, and other items in their 1st Block of the day and pick it up at dismissal when needed.

As approved by the MCS School Board on August 3rd, masks are required by all staff, students, and visitors in all MCS buildings unless they have a medical or mental health condition that prevents the wearing of a face covering.

Tables have been set up in the cafeteria and the student center for lunches just like last year to allow students to spread out.  When students arrive to their assigned lunch on Tuesday August 10th and Wednesday August 11th they may choose where to sit.  Once they choose their table on these first two days of school, they will be assigned that table for the rest of the semester for contact tracing purposes.

We are looking forward to a fantastic school year!

Thank you for visiting the Muncie Central High School website and your interest in our students and staff.  Our goal at Muncie Central is to make a positive difference in the lives of each of our students.  We are able to accomplish this by setting high academic expectations; providing resources and support to our students, staff, and families; and promoting student involvement in activities both inside and outside the classroom.

Muncie Central has a very proud tradition of academic and extra-curricular success, and our students and staff are committed to carrying on this great tradition.  The Class of 2020 surpassed $6.2 million in scholarships this past spring.  Through our partnership with the University of Notre Dame and the AP-TIP IN (Advanced Placement - Teacher Investment Program of Indiana) and the Ball Brothers Foundation, students scoring a 3 or higher on an AP exam receive a $100 incentive for each exam they pass.  Since December of 2018, MCHS students have been awarded over $46,100 in AP Incentives.  MCHS is a fully endorsement Early College Program from the Center for Excellence in Leadership of Learning (CELL).  These accomplishments were in large part due to the efforts of our amazing teachers, staff, families, and most importantly our students.

If at any time you need to contact the school, please do so by emailing us at or calling the main office at 765-747-5260.  Thanks again for your interest in Muncie Central High School.
